How supplements are actually regulated

In the United States, dietary supplements sit under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, which treats them very differently from medicines. In practice that means three things:

• The FDA does not review or approve a dietary supplement before it goes on sale.
• Responsibility for the product's safety and for the honesty of its label sits with the manufacturer and distributor.
• A facility can be registered with the FDA. Registration is an administrative fact about a building. It is not an endorsement of anything produced inside it.

You will not find the words "FDA approved" anywhere on alkapics.com, because for a dietary supplement they would not be true. Any supplement page that uses them is either mistaken or counting on you not to check.

The claims we do make

AlkaPic is manufactured in the United States in a facility following Good Manufacturing Practice standards. Our product claims are limited to the three structure and function statements printed on the label — metabolism support, appetite support and daily wellness — and we phrase them the way the law requires: supports, helps maintain, is designed to support.

The claims we do not make

• We do not say AlkaPic treats, cures or prevents obesity, diabetes, heart disease or any other condition.
• We do not present it as a substitute for prescribed medication.
• We do not publish a pounds-lost figure as an expected outcome.
• We do not use doctor endorsements, invented clinical trials, fabricated certification seals or star ratings we cannot substantiate.

On reviews and the FTC

The FTC's position on endorsements is that a testimonial does not tell a reader what a typical user will experience. We have gone a step further and published no star average and no customer count at all, because AlkaPic does not yet have a verified review corpus large enough to average honestly. When it does, the reviews will be published as written.

Affiliate disclosure

alkapics.com is operated independently. It is not the manufacturer's website and we do not represent ourselves as the manufacturer anywhere on it.

Your price is identical either way — arriving through this site costs you nothing extra and saves you nothing either. That commission is what pays for the research, writing, design and hosting behind these pages.

Having a commercial interest is not a licence to be vague. The serving size, bottle size, guarantee terms and pricing published here are what we believe to be accurate at the time of writing, and where we cannot verify something — the full ingredient list being the obvious example — we say so and point you at the bottle instead of filling the gap.

If a dietary supplement causes you a serious adverse reaction, stop taking it, seek medical attention, and report it to the FDA's MedWatch programme at fda.gov/safety/medwatch. Reports from members of the public are a large part of how problems in this industry come to light.
